How long does it take to establish a credit history with a credit card?

I just recently got approved for my first credit card, how long will it take for my credit score to improve with the card? They report monthly to all four major credit bureaus.|||Actually, your credit score will take a hit and drop a little at first due to the inquiry you made to get the card.

Expect your score to inch up within the next year. (Depending how you use the card)|||it can take as little as one day. just charge something then pay it all off the next day and you have history|||2 years at least, history is acquired over time proving able to pay on time for several years on the same accounts helps prove your reliability.

1. Keep the balance below 20% of total credit available. 30% of your FICO score is based on having a low, revolving, up to date credit card.

2. DO NOT OPEN MORE THAN 2-3 CARDS EVER.

3. Never miss or be late on a payment, missing one payment by one day can lower your FICO score (this is the really important one, thats why I'm referring to it) by up to 40 points for 2 years.

4. It will be a slow steady climb, nothing overnight.
