How can foreigners apply for a credit card in the US?

I am an international student studying in the United States. Is it possible for me to get a credit card somewhere so that I can build up some credit in case I will stay here for longer or are credit cards only approved for US citizens and residents?|||well, you got SOME replies but here's some great reading, might take you a while though:

The best (and easiest) way is to get a prepaid Visa or Mastercard card.

Good luck !|||As long as you have a social security number, you can apply for a credit card. Best to look for student credit cards - most issuers offer them.

It is important (especially if you want to stay here longer term) to start establishing your credit.|||you have to have social security number to apply for credit card.
